Bush weddings & events

Celebrate your love surrounded by the raw beauty, stillness and warmth of the Northern Cape.

More than a celebration

A wedding at Bateleur is more than a single day. It is the start of a lifelong story, shaped by the people you love, the landscape around you and moments you will remember for years to come.

From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed not only as guests but as part of the Bateleur family. We pair the raw beauty of the African wilderness with genuine, warm-hearted hospitality, so your wedding feels as individual as the love it celebrates, whether you imagine an intimate gathering or a larger, more festive occasion.

Vows with a view

Exchange your vows with sweeping views towards the Ghaapse Berg. The setting offers stillness and intimacy, keeping the focus on the two of you, your guests and the meaning of the moment, the changing light across the mountains and the wide African sky do the rest.

Under African skies

As the sun disappears behind the Northern Cape landscape, the celebration continues around the warmth of the traditional boma, long conversations, shared meals, laughter and the moments that become part of the story.

Planning together

Fully curated with you

No two love stories are the same, and your wedding should not feel like anyone else’s. Whether your vision is intimate and understated or filled with family, friends and celebration, the Bateleur team works alongside you to shape the day around what matters most to you.

It is less about following a formula and more about a day filled with meaning, connection and moments that feel entirely your own.

Wedding questions

Planning the day

Ask us anything else, you will get a personal reply with ideas for your day.

How many guests can you host?

Weddings can be intimate or larger celebrations. The lodge itself sleeps 20 guests in 10 en-suite rooms; we can talk through options for bigger guest lists.

Where does the ceremony take place?

Ceremony setups look out over the Ghaapse Berg, and riverside ceremonies are possible too. We choose the spot together.

Where is the reception?

Around the boma fire, with a feast prepared by our kitchen.

Can you film our wedding?

Yes. We film weddings in 4K with drone footage as standard. See the Videography page for details.

Can we bring our own suppliers?

Every wedding is curated with the couple, so talk to us about the suppliers you have in mind.
