Privacy notice

How we collect, use and protect your personal information.

Last updated: 7 October 2026

Who we are

Bateleur Hunting Safaris (“we”, “us”) is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website. Our Information Officer can be reached at mattie@bateleurhunting.co.za or Douglas, Northern Cape, South Africa.

What we collect

When you send an enquiry we collect the details you choose to give us: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, country, travel timeframe and dates, hunting experience, group size, interests, budget range and your message. If you contact us by WhatsApp, email or phone, we receive the information you share there.

Our web server keeps standard technical logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested) for security and troubleshooting. This site does not use advertising or tracking cookies.

How we use it

  • To reply to your enquiry and plan your trip, stay, wedding or event.
  • To arrange services you ask for, such as transfers, permits or trophy handling, with the providers involved.
  • To meet legal obligations, for example firearm and export documentation.

We do not sell your information or use it for unrelated marketing without your consent.

Embedded video and social media

Our films are hosted on YouTube and embedded in privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com). YouTube may still set cookies or collect data once a video plays; see Google’s privacy policy for details.

Our home page shows our Instagram profile, embedded from instagram.com. When that part of the page loads, Instagram (Meta) may set cookies or collect data about your visit; see Meta’s privacy policy for details.

Our enquiry page shows an embedded Google Maps map of our area. When it loads, Google may set cookies or collect data about your visit; see Google’s privacy policy for details.

Sharing and international transfers

We share information only with people who need it to deliver your booking, for example our professional hunters, transfer operators, permit facilitators and dip-and-pack services, and with our email and hosting providers. Some of these may process information outside South Africa; where they do, we take reasonable steps to ensure it is adequately protected, as POPIA requires.

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a booking are deleted once we no longer need them to answer you. Booking records are kept for as long as needed for legal, tax and permit purposes.

Your rights

You may ask to see the personal information we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, or object to how we use it. Contact our Information Officer at mattie@bateleurhunting.co.za. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).

Security

This website is served over HTTPS and enquiry details are sent directly to our inbox rather than stored on the web server. We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information.
